Water-based paint can be used as anti-rust paint, intermediate paint and top paint on steel structure. But not all water-based paints do. For example: water-based paint for building walls, water-based paint for wood, etc. are not suitable.
As a steel structure paint, its functions include rust prevention and decoration. Obviously, architectural coatings and wood coatings do not need to consider how to prevent rust. Moreover, even with water-based steel structure anti-rust paint, flash rust is prone to occur. Good water-based anti-rust paint, flash rust does not affect the long-term anti-rust effect, but has a significant impact on the appearance of the coating.
Two-component water-based steel structure anti-rust paint:
Water-based epoxy zinc-rich primer, water-based epoxy iron red primer, water-based inorganic zinc-rich primer, water-based epoxy micaceous iron paint, water-based epoxy anti-corrosion topcoat, water-based acrylic polyurethane topcoat. Two-component water-based paint, the coating is denser and tougher than one-component paint. And can be dried naturally at room temperature.
Why is it generally believed that water-based paint is inferior to solvent-based paint in rust prevention of steel structures?
1. Flash rust, anti-flash rust and salt spray resistance of early steel structure water-based paint. That is to prevent the occurrence of flash rust, but the long-term rust prevention effect cannot be achieved.
2. Mechanical properties, the resin systems that can be used in the early water-based anti-rust paints are mostly alkyd, epoxy ester, and one-component acrylic type. Although this type of paint has a beautiful appearance, its anti-rust ability is poor, even in solvent-based paints. In the system, it is also a type with poor anti-rust ability.
